Dr. Bessma Momani is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Political Science and History at the University of Waterloo and Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance and Innovation. She specializes on the International Monetary Fund and Middle East economic liberalization.
In addition to a textbook on Twentieth Century World History, she has authored IMF-Egyptian Negotiations and co-edited Canada and the Middle East: In theory and practice. Dr. Momani has published articles about the IMF in Review of International Political Economy, Asian Affairs, Global Society, Journal of International Relations and Development, New Political Economy, International Journal, Canadian Journal of Political Science, and Review of International Organizations. On economic liberalization in the Middle East, she has published in Middle East Review of International Affairs, World Economy, and World Economics.
Dr. Momani is currently involved in a three year SSHRC funded project that examines the history of seat allocation at the IMF Executive Board. In addition to this, she is co-organizing conferences on regional perspectives on IMF reform at CIGI.
