Academic Interests
Twentieth century Canadian history, Canadian and international legal history, Canada-Japan foreign relations, environmental history, the history of conservation in Canada.
Current Research
I am currently working under the supervision of P. Whitney Lackenbauer on a study of Canadian involvement in the prosecution of Class ‘B’ and ‘C’ war crimes trials at Yokohama and Hong Kong after the end of the Pacific War. These ‘minor’ war crimes trials were linked largely to the members of the Winnipeg Grenadiers and Royal Rifles of Canada who became POWs after the Fall of Hong Kong in December 1941.
Other Research Projects
I am currently working with Dr. Ian Kyer of Faskin Martineau DuMoulin on a history of the Faskin Martin law firm, a project which is funded by the Osgoode Hall Society for Legal History. I am also working for P. Whitney Lackenbauer on research pertaining to the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers.
