Dissertation (in progress): “Your Sons and Daughters Shall Prophesy”: Visions, Apocalypticism, and Gender Among the Strasbourg Prophets, 1524-1539

My current research looks at the origins, influence, and eventual dissolution of the Strasbourg Prophets, a sixteenth-century group of visionaries that joined forces with the Dutch/North German Anabaptist leader Melchior Hoffman. My research interests include the influence of apocalyptic and visionary/prophetic movements on religious communities and the intersection of gender, class, and religion in Reformation-era Europe.
