Rural Canada: Settlement, Families and Community
Victorian and Edwardian Gender (Minor Field)
Supervisor: Dr. Catharine Anne Wilson
Specialization: Rural Canada during the Pre-Confederation period
Broadly, I am interested in settlement, gender, family and environmental history. In all the research I conduct, it is my goal to bring together as many divergent threads as possible to provide a clearer image of the past.
Under the supervision of Dr. Catherine Anne Wilson my dissertation focuses on a collection of rural Upper Canadian Quaker communities. I intend to explore how agricultural development, religious doctrine and uses of the environment did or did not converge within these communities. It is an attempt to determine different trends and influences during the European settlement of Upper Canada.
