My thesis investigates the development projects of Kochi (Cochin), India, during the British period. Specifically my project examines the port redevelopment projects from 1880-1920 and the construction of Willingdon Island. These large scale infrastructure developments reshaped the city into a modern metropolis that suited both British and Indian imperatives.
