Dissertation Topic: “Submissive Wife at Home and Communism Builder at Work: Controversies of Female Emancipation in the Soviet Islamic Regions in 1919 – 1941”

Academic Interests: Intellectual History, Gender History, Women Studies, History of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, Modern European History , Ottoman and Modern Turkish History, East European History, Russian Literature.

Thematically, I am interested in issues connected with culture and cultural change, the states politics towards the women empowerment, empire and colonialism.  The role of ethnicity, religion and nationalism in the  construction of  the Soviet nationhood in its various manifestations is also an important part of my research interests.
